Independent Living Centre Kingston was founded by people with disabilities in the late 1980s.The centre empowers people with disabilities to live self-sufficiently. Our organization has grown by increasing specific programs and services to support our community.

Our Vision
Independent Living Centre Kingston believes in a society where people with disabilities fully participate in every aspect of their communities by applying Independent Living principles. These principles empower individuals with disabilities to explore options, make decisions, take risks and take control of their life.

COVID-19 Update
The staff of Independent Living Centre Kingston continue to support people with disabilities in our community. We are available to assist you over the phone, by email, via video, and in person by appointment. Drop in Fall Schedules
Looking for social activities? Every Tuesday, everyone is welcome to come in for cards and board-games between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, attendants welcome, bring a friend!
Diner’s Club
Join the Diners’ Club once a month when we visit accessible local restaurants. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy an evening out at one of your favourite restaurants or to experience somewhere new to you.

Access to Independence
We continue to assist individuals in applying for programs such as the Ontario Disability Support Program and the Disability Tax Credit. Meetings are conducted by phone and in some cases using video conferencing. We are also offering in person meetings by appointment as needed.
Peer Support
We are offering one to one support by phone and video during this time. We have also resumed out monthly Diners Club peer group. Please contact us for more information if you would like to participate.
Information and Support Services
We are continuing to provide this service to ensure that support to people with disabilities is available and that needs are met. Now more than ever, individuals may have questions about available community services and support. We continue to provide access to support on issues such as: attendant services, income supports, assistive devices, counselling services, and crisis relief programs. We provide this service over the phone, by email, and in person by appointment.
Self-Managed Attendant Services, Direct Funding
Direct Funding participants continue to receive support by phone, email and video calls. New policies are being developed to address the unique needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Direct Funding staff are working with participants to find flexible individualized solutions to meet their attendant service needs.
